The "Hamilton Hoppers" are a competitive rope skipping team dedicated to promoting rope skipping around in Southern Ontario.
The team has 18 competitive members, aged 7 to 24, who represent the Hamilton-Wentworth area. Over the years, our members have been Canadian and World Champions, as well as National Record Holders. Several jumpers have been honored with civic sports achievement awards.
Currently, the team has 36 recreational members who practice once a week. Recreational sessions and Skills Workshops are run throughout the season. Contact us to find out what is coming up.
Members have traveled throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe, competing and promoting rope skipping. They have appeared on TV in all of these countries and have prepared videos for the British school system, for Canada's "Jump Rope for Heart" program and for the World Rope Skipping Federation.
In July 2006 five senior members competed in the Maple Leaf International Championships held at the Worlds 2006 Rope Skipping venue.
The "Hoppers" perform for schools, organizations and groups. A Hopper performance can be seen at many Festivals and events in the Golden Horseshoe. Workshops are conducted for other skipping teams, schools and other sport organizations.
