Introducing the Hoppers
The "Hamilton Hoppers" are a competitive rope skipping team in Southern Ontario.
The team which started in 1982, currently has 15 competitive members, aged 6 to 28, who represent the Hamilton-Wentworth area. Over the years, our members have been Canadian and World Champions, as well as Provincial and National Record Holders. Several jumpers have been honored over the years with City of Hamilton Civic Sports Achievement Awards.
To find out more about what our competitive team has to offer, check out the “Program” link.
Currently, the team has 10 recreational members who practice once a week. Recreational sessions and Skills Workshops are run throughout the season. Contact us to find out what is coming up.
Through the years, members have traveled throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe, competing and promoting the sport of jump rope. They have appeared on TV in all of these countries and have prepared videos for the British school system, for Canada's "Jump Rope for Heart" program and for the World Rope Skipping Federation.
More recently we have had members attend World of Jump Rope Competitions and the Pan American Jump Rope Competition in Orlando, Florida.
Alongside the competitive team, recreational programs are run throughout the season to introduce interested children to the sport. For more information regarding our programs for the year check out the “Program” link.
The "Hoppers" perform for schools, organizations and groups. A Hopper performance can be seen at many Festivals and events in the Golden Horseshoe. Workshops are conducted for other skipping teams, schools and other sport organizations. If you are interested in a workshop or demonstration please check out our “Shows link.
